I like Svaroopa because I feel great when I’m done.

  • Please dress comfortably for class. Wear or bring layers so you can adjust to the “weather” of the classroom. People sometimes get much cooler when they relax, so you may want to cover yourself with a blanket. Please refrain from wearing perfumes and other heavy scents to class as many people have allergies and/or are sensitive to strong smells.

  • Feel free to bring a covered water bottle to class. The studio will provide everything else that you need.

  • Svaroopa® yoga classes usually begin and end with yoga’s relaxation pose—lying down, comfortably supported by blankets and blocks. This position assists you in releasing tension on all levels. The teacher will then guide you, step by step, through a series of poses, or asanas. Teaching is individualized to your body and needs and you will be assisted with alignment and props to get the most from each pose. Svaroopa® yoga provides profound benefit with minimal effort. It is not an exerting, competitive form of exercise. Poses are primarily done seated or lying down. And, while we move through twelve themes during the course of the year (including standing and vinyasa), we are not working up a heavy sweat.

  • Yes, you certainly can! The cost for the session can be prorated to reflect the weeks remaining.

  • This style of yoga is different from other types you may have tried as most people can do Svaroopa® yoga. Our students range in age from their twenties to eighty (or more!) years old. If you can sit in a chair and get up and down from the floor, you probably can “do” this type of yoga. If you have questions or concerns about your current status or medical conditions, please call the teacher prior to coming to your first class. She will be able to help you find the best class for you. If you are pregnant in your first trimester and have not practiced Svaroopa® yoga before, you may begin classes after your first trimester.  Also, if you have had an organ transplant then you are not a candidate for Svaroopa® yoga.

  • Please tell your teacher if you experience pain or discomfort in a pose. Usually we can give you a simple modification that will make the pose more comfortable for you. You are always welcome to come out of a pose early, skip a pose, or ask for a substitute. Please speak with the teacher about your experiences so that she can assist you.

  • Most students begin yoga to reduce stress and pain. Some come to find greater strength and flexibility. Others come to find peace and a deeper sense of self.

  • Drop-in: $25; Series: $23 per class (when full series is paid for); New students: 5 classes for $75 (expires in 7 weeks)
